It's incredibly fun. Not just fun, but you learn a lot as you go along with the older people. The older people are very fun to be with, and very friendly to be around. At the same time, you feel like you're a part of their family. One day, they're going to go, and one day, you're going to be in their shoes, as being in around older people.

The art is, you have to... the artists, for carvers, they're very tough. That's the way I see it, because the soapstone, they breathe in, it goes right into the lungs; it's pretty dangerous. And the grinder these days they use now, it's a machine... electric... if that thing breaks, or whatever happens to the engine, that machine is very, very dangerous. It can kill humans, actually.

But to tolerate that, you have to be skilled - how to hold on to the machine. So, with a balance, as I said, you kind of need muscles to go with that, because you know, you've got a machine that's very, very speedy, and has lots of speed. Anyways, the muscles... you have to hold on to it, because when you cut the stone, it tends to slide. It slides if you position yourself in a wrong way, or if you don't pay attention to it. You've got to be kind of quick in your memory, or your vision, or your movements.
