Via the interactive movie you'll meet Inuit Elders, artists and community leaders, and through them, learn about Inuit values and ideas, practices and processes. On a voyage by ship from Iqaluit to Cape Dorset , Nunavut , you'll be immersed in five scenarios:
- environmental stewardship as you make your way in a zodiac through the Lower Savage Islands with an Inuit hunter and a biology professor from Southern Canada ;
- justice , when you face a challenging choice when you visit an ancient landmark, Digges Island ;
- consensus based decision-making , when you and others from the ship confront a survival challenge in Pritzler Harbour , and you face choices about what must be done and how to do it;
- learning by doing , when you're invited inside a tent by the welcoming members of the Kimmirut community, who demonstrate the kind of skills, and the degree of interdependence, necessary to live on the land;
- sustainable community , when you explore the community of Cape Dorset through the eyes of renowned Inuit artists, including Kenojuak Ashevak and Kananginak Pootoogook, and young Inuit artists emerging on the international scene, including Siassie Kenneally and Annie Pootoogook.
It is fitting that IQ also stands for intelligence, since Elders and others are going to share their deep knowledge, gathered over thousands of years, with you. Wherever you live, this knowledge may help you meet challenges and take up opportunities in your life. The QUEST is quite an adventure, at times more difficult than others. As you successfully complete each adventure, and the computer games within the movie, you'll be rewarded with a stone to build your very own Inuksuk, like those out on the Arctic tundra which have guided Inuit for thousands of years. Your Inuksuk will symbolize your ability, by the end of the movie, to use IQ to navigate your way through life.
Some consider the Inuit to be among the first ecologists. The IQ Adventure provides an opportunity to learn how to become "keepers of the land", a role Inuit fulfilled in the Eastern Arctic over thousands of years.
