They are going off on the land by dog team, in mid-winter. The man and the woman are lead the dog teams, to make sure the dogs have the right energy and are going in the right direction, because what they're pulling is heavy load. We'd be wishing them strength, and a safe trip. The other thing this drawing says to me is, Inuit working together in collaboration. If they all working as a team, the journey will go easier and take less effort.
