And then there are the seats of the members. You likely noticed that they are covered in seal-skin. The skins of seals are used, as are all parts of the seal - for their meat, for making clothing, traditionally for the covering of the qajaaq (kayak), for mitts - in all manner of ways. And so also, inside the Legislative Assembly, we wanted the skin of the seal to be there for everyone to see and admire. That's why the skin of the seal was chosen for the covering of the seats in the Legislature.
